Carefully prepared for this meeting, Mathieu Mottier’s resident made short work of his opponents to win his second event.
His victory is uncontested. Hacker Lover (n° 12) put in a great performance for his first attempt at the winter meeting on the Parisian cinder track. Quickly installed in command, Mathieu Mottier’s partner dominated his opponents with impressive ease.
“He was perhaps not in his category,” admits his rider, who won a fifteenth quinté as a trainer and a 45th as a driver. “I didn’t feel like I was going that fast. He wins really well.” With only 30 races to his name, the 7-year-old gelding has ultimately run little.
“He doesn’t have many faults apart from his health problems,” laments the man who will win a third Golden Stirrup at the end of the year. “He never disappoints us.”
Clearly behind the untouchable winner, Honey King (n° 14) behaved very well after having made an excellent start, which is usually his weak point. He snatched second place from Hoche (n° 8), who had taken the lead at the start of the straight. Hasur Dairpet (n° 13) failed at the foot of the podium without demeriting and ahead of Harmony du Rabutin (n° 4).
All our specialists indicated the quinté in disorder in our columns but Kévin Romain proposed it with five horses.
