The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have secured their future by extending the contracts of two promising young talents, Alekolasimi Jones and Cassius Tia, ensuring their presence at Belmore until the end of the 2026 season.
Alekolasimi Jones, affectionately known as ‘AJ,’ has been a part of the Bulldogs’ Pathways system since the age of 17. A dynamic ball-playing forward, Jones has progressed through the SG Ball Cup, Jersey Flegg Cup, and NSW Cup, recently completing his first pre-season training with the NRL side. Despite still being eligible for the Jersey Flegg Cup, he has already made three appearances in the NSW Cup in 2025, showcasing his readiness for higher-level competition.
Cassius Tia, a versatile halfback or five-eighth with the ability to play in the outside backs, was instrumental in the Bulldogs’ 2024 Jersey Flegg Cup Premiership victory, scoring a try and kicking the decisive conversion in their 14-12 win. Since then, Tia has made seven appearances for the NSW Cup side in 2025, demonstrating his adaptability by playing at halfback, in the centres, and from the interchange bench. Both players have also had a taste of NRL football, making appearances in the 2025 Pre-Season Challenge, and are eager to make their first-grade debuts in the coming seasons
This strategic move by the Bulldogs not only secures the services of two of their brightest young players but also reflects the club’s commitment to developing homegrown talent and building a strong foundation for future success. With Jones and Tia’s potential and versatility, they are poised to become key contributors to the Bulldogs’ NRL aspirations.
