The five-time Olympic gold medalist will take the helm of the adaptation of Netflix’s hit reality TV show, alongside his wife Luthna Plocus.
Love may be blind, but theirs will jump out at viewers. According to our information, Netflix has recruited a real couple in the city to host the French version of one of the most iconic programs on its platform: the dating show “Love is Blind”. They are the five-time Olympic judo champion Teddy Riner and his partner and mother of his two children Luthna Plocus.
This 5-star couple will present the first edition of the French version of this program born in the United States in 2020 and already adapted in many countries (in Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Japan, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Sweden and last month in the United Arab Emirates). Almost every time, it is a couple who is at the helm.
In this show, a mix of “Married at First Sight” and “Love is in the Meadow”, about fifteen men and fifteen women, from a fairly high socio-professional category, are separated in two adjoining lofts. They have the opportunity to get to know each other, without ever seeing each other, by settling into capsules, separated by a wall. Blind dates, which give their name to the program.

After several meetings, they can propose to each other and it is only then that they will discover each other physically. In the last part of the show, the candidates who have resisted all the previous stages can go on a honeymoon and then try out life as a couple and meet the families and friends of their new half.
Produced by ITV Studios (“The Voice” but also “Love Island” with Nabilla for Amazon Prime), the French version of “Love is Blind” is expected in 2025 on the video-on-demand platform. The teams and candidates are currently filming in Morocco, after a detour in Sweden, where the lofts are located. The recruitment of Teddy Riner and Luthna Plocus is a very big coup, as the 35-year-old judoka was one of the French heroes of the last Olympic Games, lighting the cauldron with Marie-José Perec during the Opening Ceremony, then winning two titles, his third in the individual +100 kg category and his second in the team category.
While it will surprise judo fans, this recruitment is not entirely a surprise for television fans. In the fall of 2019, Teddy Riner had already temporarily left the tatamis for the small screen. The judoka had hosted “La Course des champions”, a sports show filmed at the Stade de France.
Despite spectacular physical events, the program he presented as a team with Olivier Minne, Laury Thilleman and Sandy Heribert did not meet with the expected audience success, recording disappointing results. It was not renewed.
