Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford shared a concise four-word message on social media, celebrating the team’s dramatic victory over rivals Manchester City.
The 27-year-old was a key talking point leading up to the clash with Pep Guardiola’s side, as new United manager Ruben Amorim made the bold call to leave both Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho out of the matchday squad.
United struggled to make an impact during the first hour of the game, falling behind after Josko Gvardiol headed City into the lead during the first half.
As the match wore on, it seemed like Amorim’s side was heading for a third consecutive Premier League loss, especially after Bruno Fernandes squandered a golden opportunity by shooting wide when through on goal.
However, Amad Diallo sparked the turnaround, first capitalizing on a poor back pass from Matheus Nunes, which led to the Portuguese midfielder fouling him in the box. Bruno Fernandes calmly converted the resulting penalty to bring United level.
In stoppage time, Amad made a perfectly timed run behind City’s defense and delivered a clinical finish, sealing a dramatic comeback victory for United.
Rashford took to Instagram moments after the final whistle, posting: “Yesssssssss! Love it lads,” accompanied by two red heart emojis, sharing his excitement from home.
The victory brought United within six points of the Champions League spots, while City missed the chance to close the gap on league leaders Liverpool by the same margin. The home side’s collapse added to their woes, extending a dismal run of form with just one win in their last 11 matches, leaving Guardiola’s team outside the top four.
