Carlos Alcaraz cautioned against trying to emulate Legends.

The former world No. 1 warned that while Carlos Alcaraz has shown remarkable promise, this doesn’t guarantee he can replicate the achievements of the Big Three, emphasizing that “there are so many other parts to the game.”

Since his rapid ascent in tennis, Alcaraz has often been compared to Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer. The 21-year-old Spaniard has already claimed four Grand Slam titles: the 2022 US Open, the 2023 and 2024 Wimbledon Championships, and the 2024 French Open.

If Alcaraz wins any of the next three editions of the Australian Open, he will surpass Rafael Nadal as the youngest man to complete the career Grand Slam.

Alcaraz concluded the 2024 season ranked world No. 3, after winning four tournaments, bringing his career title count to 16.

At the TiE Global Summit 2024, Andre Agassi delivered high praise for Carlos Alcaraz while analyzing his skill set but remained cautious about predicting whether the Spaniard could replicate the success of the Big Three.

“I’m not a genius, and I don’t have a crystal ball. What I can tell you is Alcaraz defends like Novak, has power and spin like Nadal, and has hands and finesse like Federer,” the American remarked.

However, Agassi tempered his praise with a note of realism: “But just because he has the best of all three doesn’t mean he can do what they did. There are so many other parts to the game—decision-making, injuries, luck… so many things.”

Novak Djokovic holds the men’s record with 24 Grand Slam titles, while Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer follow with 22 and 20 majors, respectively.

Carlos Alcaraz has openly discussed the challenge of chasing Novak Djokovic’s remarkable record and reaching the legendary heights of the Big Three.

“Of course, I think about Nole’s 24 Grand Slams—that’s obvious,” the former world No. 1 admitted in February.

“I’m an ambitious person who always dreams big, and Djokovic’s 24 is definitely a target for the end of my career.

“It’s impossible not to think about it. My competitive nature pushes me to strive for the highest level, to match the Big Three. The truth is, I dream big.”
