The French giant and his San Antonio franchise will be transformed into Disney characters on December 25th for Christmas Day in the NBA, the American league’s match day scheduled for Christmas Day. The Spurs’ game against the New York Knicks will, in fact, be broadcast simultaneously in a cartoon version, in addition to its normal broadcast of course.
In concrete terms, all the live actions of “Wemby”, Chris Paul and their teammates will be reproduced in real time, on a virtual court, by Mickey Mouse and other emblematic characters of the American firm.
While the Spurs and the Knicks will meet at Madison Square Garden, the cartoon version of the match will take place virtually on Main Street USA, the famous street at the entrance to Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
A major first for the NBA, made possible thanks to player tracking data provided by the Hawk-Eye system. ESPN had already achieved such a technological feat for an NFL match between the Atlanta Falcons and the Jacksonville Jaguars, Toy Story version, in October 2023.
