Chelsea’s relentless pursuit of Alejandro Garnacho has hit yet another wall, as Manchester United firmly rejected a fourth, record-breaking offer for the 20-year-old Argentine winger. BlueCo executives reportedly met with United representatives in London yesterday, where Chelsea tabled an offer that would have made Garnacho the most expensive under-21 signing in Premier League history.
However, United were unmoved. According to sources close to the meeting, the Red Devils outlined three non-negotiable conditions for any potential transfer — conditions that reportedly left Chelsea’s board “confused and stunned.”
The Three Conditions Were:
- Garnacho Must Request the Transfer Publicly – United want the player to take full accountability if he seeks to leave, to avoid backlash from fans and protect the club’s image. Garnacho has shown no intention of doing so.
- A Premier League Exit Clause – United refused to strengthen a direct rival unless Chelsea agreed to a £150M “re-sale” clause, should Garnacho be sold to another PL side within three years.
- Kobbie Mainoo Swap + Add-ons – Perhaps the most controversial demand: United insisted Chelsea include teenage sensation Kobbie Mainoo as part of the deal — a condition Chelsea instantly rejected.
With tensions high and no breakthrough in sight, Chelsea’s interest may now cool as they explore alternative wide options in Europe. Garnacho, who remains committed to United under Ten Hag, is believed to be “flattered but unmoved” by Chelsea’s approach.
